Undergraduate Umnia Mahgoub receives travel award to attend Maize Genetics Conference in Jacksonville, FL

We are very pleased to announce that undergraduate Umnia Mahgoub has been awarded a Maize Genetics Network Enhancement via Travel (MaGNET) award to attend the 58th Annual Maize Genetics Conference, which will be held in Jacksonville, Florida from March 17-20, 2016.   The purpose of this competitive program is to "recruit and retain scientists from diverse backgrounds" into the maize community and to provide undergraduates from ASTEM-under represented backgrounds the opportunity to attend a national conference and network with scientists from all career stages.  Umnia will be presenting a research poster titled, "Metabolomic characterization of extracellular surface lipids throughout silk development in both inbred and hybrid genotypes of maize".
